Overview:
KIME Performance Physical Therapy is a premier provider of human performance improvement services with global reach and local emphasis. Our revenue verticals are Physical Therapy, Performance Training, Education, Retail, and Research. In 2020, we operate out 5 locations with 13 providers, and have education courses existing both live and online. We are looking to add providers, grow our patient reach and increase our education platform.

Our Physical Therapists specialize in movement and motor control. We provide an individual plan for each patient tailored to upgrade lives. KIME functions as a team of providers, like minded, focused, driven to excellence because our clients are worth it. We commit to leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of better performance for our clients/patients. This internship will be located at our Performance Physical Therapy facilities.

Responsibilities:
Patient care involvement and shadowing our clinicians to learn our cutting edge methods and strategies. Perform administrative and clinic maintenance duties as directed by the Intern Supervisor or physical therapy staff. What you’ll learn:
Individuals who join our team will gain knowledge and experience working in a highly skilled ​physical therapy​ and group training environment. Each week you will shadow, observe, and participate in the performance therapy programming and services we offer to our clientele ranging from youth to adult, collegiate, elite, and professional. Our coaches and therapists utilize our unique proactive health and performance training system progressing clients through the movement continuum. As an intern, you’ll participate in lectures, presentations, and practicums surrounding our specific strategies we use to enhance human performance and walk away with an in-depth understanding on how to implement this post-graduation.

Who We Are Looking For:
We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and talented individuals who have a passion for upgrading the lives of all walks of life. These individuals must be pursuing a Bachelor/Graduate degree in Exercise Science or related field, interested in an industry certification such as DPT, NSCA-CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ACSM, NASM-CPT, etc., and a strong desire to become a professional in one of the following fields: Strength and Conditioning, personal training, sports medicine, or physical therapy.

Internship Logistics:
If you are selected to participate in the KIME Performance Internship, you will be responsible for the following

  • Finding, securing, and funding your own housing for the duration of the internship
  • Booking and funding your travel and relocating to the location of your internship prior to the start date
  • Funding all food and transportation costs for the duration of your internship
  • Academic credit is a requirement, so we recommend that you speak with your academic advisor on this before submitting your application to our internship program.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for work in the USA
  • Must be enrolled in a 4 year or master’s program specializing in sport science, kinesiology, exercise physiology, exercise science, etc
  • Must be able to dedicate 4 hours/week worth of work for the 12-16 weeks
  • Must be interested in the field of Human Performance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Anatomy
  • Computer Literate-Word and Excel, Google Drive
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Attention to Detail
  • Proactive and action oriented
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR for the duration of the internship term

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted repeatedly throughout the workday
  • Perform basic physical requirements of this job such as frequent walking around and demonstrating and assisting with exercise movements; bending, stretching, lifting, pushing, pulling and squatting are movements performed daily.

Graduate Physical Therapy - Clinical Rotation

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:

Take your aspirations and passions as a future clinician to the next level. Learn how to connect with your patients and optimize your performance to more effectively rehabilitate and train your clients.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Understand and utilize the Kime Performance Continuum to develop appropriate and effective patient/client centric plans
  • Become proficient in optimizing interventions, both manual and exercise, along the Kime Performance Continuum
  • Become confident in your decision making and communication skills with patients/clients
  • Understand when and why to use modalities such as cupping, IASTM, flossband, vasopneumatic devices, percussive devices, etc
  • Determine your specific interests in the performance PT realm and facilitate growth in these areas

First clinical experience: Depending upon your academic curriculum, ratings of student performance may be expected in the first two intervals between beginning clinical performance,* advanced beginner performance, and intermediate clinical performance.
Intermediate clinical experiences: Depending upon your academic curriculum, student performance rating are expected to process along the continuum ranging from a minimum of advanced beginner clinical performance (interval 2) to advanced intermediate clinical performance* (interval 4). The rating on the performance criteria will be dependent upon the clinical setting, level of didactic and clinical experience within the curriculum, and expectations of the clinical site and the academic program.
Final clinical experience: Students should achieve ratings of entry-level or beyond (interval 5) for all 18 performance criteria.

CPI COMPETENCIES: as follows unless otherwise stated by the student’s respective institution

MEETINGS & PARTICIPATION: The student is expected to meet with their CI at a rate determined best based on individual learning style as well as needs.

  • Welcome and orientation meeting (in person or zoom)
  • Pre-internship learning material

  • Review of performance/cases daily or weekly
  • Scheduled hands on practice with CI weekly
  • Midterm review
  • Final review
  • Attendance of company and location specific meetings
  • 30-60 minute in-service

  • Voluntary attendance of community events (as available)
  • Voluntary Surgical observation (as available)
